I have been shocked at the culture of corruption and misconduct that has been allowed to persist at the National Park Service.
I introduced H.R. 5047, the 'Protecting Veterans' Educational Choice Act of 2016.'
My overall goal with this legislation is to ensure that no veteran feels as though he or she has misused their benefits.
Yes, in that regard we are working with other departments, of education and so forth, to gather all of the accurate information that is needed.
It is more than ironic, beyond ironic, to think that Director Jarvis has anything to offer us in terms of a guide on American values, when he, himself, is evidently so steeped in corruption.
I think that's--personally, I don't think that goes far enough, but that's not going to be the point of my questions here.
When we hear that employees who engage in misconduct or mismanagement are not held accountable, it sounds like leadership actually condones misbehavior at the Park Services.
the National Park Service, certainly under the direction and action of Director Jarvis, is desperately in need of some oversight.
I mean there is just a lot of questions for census purposes that are unnecessary.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman. We have got a long ways to go to plug the hole, but I appreciate you holding this hearing.
