I just want to say as a member of the Appropriations Committee now going on 14 years, I remember several years ago when Congressman David Skaggs of Boulder, Colorado, offered an amendment in the committee which reinstituted the War Powers Act, because at that time we were concerned that President Clinton was getting us involved in a war in Bosnia; so we put it on that bill. And I believe last session we put on the continuation of government on an appropriation bill, and I am a firm believer that we do routinely authorize on appropriation bills. We just need to agree with the authorization. So I want to say to my friend I have seen things accepted and things rejected.

His tone at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning was magnificent. And I was in the room and I can tell you, it was an inspirational American moment.
I actually think the American people are fed up with the politics. Elijah Cummings said today he wanted to work -- very liberal Democrat, as you know, he wanted to work with Trump. And I think that's a good sign.
I think there's going to be a real interesting back-story here because if I'm the president right now I'm talking to John Kelly and saying, tell me what you knew, who kept this information from you if you did not know.
Anytime we change a light bulb, we talk about how great the last one was. And that's what I'm hearing right now from the Democrats.
