There was a case of a school district that spent, listen to this, over $1,000 to obtain a government grant that had a $13 value. They used it to park their bus one day. They spent $1,000 to get a $13 grant. Does that make sense? There was another case, and the gentleman knows this, his committee ferreted it out, of about $81,000 in safe and drug-free school money that was spent buying dentures for toothbrushing lessons, which is important. Of course, I think it is a parent job, not an educator job. But that money should have gone into drug education. There was another one, and the gentleman from California [Mr. Cunningham] remembers his committee found out, out of a school system, and I think I am 90 percent sure of the State, but because of the 10 percent uncertainty I will not say it, but they spent the safe-and-drug-free school money, $171,000 on a 3-day retreat. That is absurd. That is a waste of money. None of that money got to the teacher and to the child in the classroom.”
