I am hoping that the Senate sees this today's verdict, this strong verdict guilty on all charges. They will see this as a springboard if you will, for them to present the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act and pass it and get it done.

this is not an anti-police prosecution. It’s a pro-police prosecution.

But as the president says, when the police failed to protect the community, they must be held accountable.

I will continue to use my time, my talent, and my energy to advocate for justice, which does include justice for the victims.

Let's remember the victims who have been raped, robbed, and assaulted...

I truly believe that the level of representation a person is able to receive... should not be determined by a person's ability to pay.

Hear me clearly: That is shameful.

The safety of our Nation is our No. 1 concern.

Every societal failure we put on the cops or the criminal justice system to solve. Not enough mental health funding? Give it to the police. Not enough drug addiction treatment funding? Let the police handle it.

Schools fail? Call the police. Let them handle it. This is too much to ask.

Aren't we as a nation exhausted? Haven't we had enough? Doesn't this issue deserve more than a political debate, a lackluster and half-hearted response? And if my colleagues on the other side of the aisle want to keep score, you will lose.

I really do believe that they want the modern-day civil war.

I am convinced that Congress has a direct responsibility to take action to right the wrongs.

They deserve to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

But those who have participated by omission or commission deserve to be held accountable.

Black and Brown communities have been left behind in testing and now in vaccine distributions.

For a Nation who always goes where the need is greatest, but we see the data.

I am troubled though that today, only 34 States are doing it.

Aren't we as a Nation exhausted? Haven't we had enough? Doesn't this issue deserve more than a political debate?

We need to get this done.

We should not just represent some, we should represent all.

I know it's a priority for President Biden. I know it's a priority for his administration.

We need to go big or go home, the American people are hurting small businesses are hurting. And if there was ever a time that we need relief, the time is now.
