A legacy of weakening America.

One terrible message that the new policy has just sent to Latin America, and the rest of the world, is that taking American hostages can be very rewarding as it has been for Cuba.

Well, and then you get somebody like Raul Castro, giving the demands when the sanctions can't--well, we will take the sanctions if you do this and this, and it just--it is ludicrous.

I see the Venezuelan state as an extension of the Cuban state that has become stronger in their nature...

We want people off the programs, but we can't take them off too early, because what happens is they are always under the thumb of a Federal program, and they can't get away from it.

It is so important that we make the needed reforms so that the money is there for the programs that are working, and get rid of the programs that aren't working.

If we can centralize, it will cut the cost and make it more effective.

Is there a way to centralize this so that we don't have two or three different agencies and 18 different programs sending all this out for the duplication?

Food insecurity is household members that were at times uncertain of having or unable to acquire enough food for all household members because they had insufficient money or other resources.

I appreciate all four of you being here with your testimony.

I remember having the coupons, the food stamps. And there was a stigma, but I was so thankful they were there.

I grew up in a wealthy family or high upper middle class until we went broke, and then my parents got divorced.

I want to hear from you guys whether you submit it to this agency or I will submit questions to you.

I agree 100 percent with you, and I appreciate you and your compassion.

The more government interferes and takes that away, it would be a lot worse.

I understand the importance of that, and I don't know anybody in the country, I don't care if they are the most conservative or the most liberal, that is not willing to help somebody in need.

We actually--we don't want them in there, we would rather have everybody off of it and self-sufficient.

We need to reform it for those people that truly need it.

We want the best program we can so that people get the best nutrition they can while they need that.

I appreciate you having this timely meeting, and bringing this up.

How do you go about holding that government accountable?

When you go into the different countries, like say Turkey, you know, the human rights that we stand by, that we believe in this country, are going to be different in those other countries.

I think it is going to wind up being a regime change, which at this point I think the rest of the world would be safer off and the people of Syria, obviously.

I think you are absolutely right, and if we don't define what ISIL is as a radical Islamic jihadist group you can't--you can't defeat it.

I will be damned if my son is going to be asked to risk his life for a failed strategy simply to allow the President to avoid the consequences of his incompetence.
