It is going to be located here at Baker Correctional Institution, and again, the process — the reason of this is not to just house people indefinitely. We want to process, stage, and then return illegal aliens to their home country.

So I’m here to announce today that we are authorizing and will be soon be opening this new illegal immigration detention processing and deportation facility here in North Florida. We are calling this the Deportation Depot.

Since the opening of Alligator Alcatraz, we have seen an increase in the number of illegal aliens who are taking the voluntary departure.

The demand is there, and our guys are ready, willing, and able to help our federal partners in this really, really important mission.

So this is definitely the right decision. … We are going to be able to fulfill this, utilize these resources.

I want to make sure the demand is there, and the demand is there, and they are ramping up the flights, and that cadence is getting better.

Blanding does have air capacity, but probably not a big enough runway to handle large planes.

This part of the facility is not being used right now for the state prisoners. It just gives us an ability to go in, stand it up quickly, stand it up cheaply.

I’m confident that it will be filled.

There is a demand for this.

The federal government is ramping up removal flights from the South Florida facility.

A lot less standing up than we would do at Blanding and far less than we had to do at Alligator Alcatraz.

So right when you do the intake, they have the information about voluntary departure.

You’ll be escorted, they’ll make sure you get on the plane, and there’ll be oversight.

Thus far, we’ve had over 600 that have been deported from Alligator Alcatraz by ICE and that cadence is starting to rapidly increase.

I don’t think you’ve seen any state in the country work more closely with these federal agencies to fulfill a very key mission, a mandate from the American people after the 2024 election, to get this job done.

If you don’t think those folks should be sent back, then you basically just want an open border.
