The failure by the VA to update their IT systems caused massive delays in processing GI Bill claims for thousands of student veterans last fall.

I am proud to be here today to be part of the Subcommittee's continued review of the implementation of the Forever GI Bill.

Mr. Chairman, it is clear that we have a lot of work to do, a lot of ground to cover.

We should expect DOL to do its job and provide a witness, and we should also expect the Senate to do their job and make decisions on President Trump's nominations.

It is my understanding that the nominee for the Assistant Secretary for Veterans' Employment and Training has been languishing in the Senate for over a year now.

These changes were the most significant revisions to TAP since 2011.

I am also interested in learning what the Department's plan is to go back and pay veterans what they are owed.

We can't let what happened last year ever happen again.

I am still skeptical of the funding being provided for the Education Service.

Whatever is good for veterans is what we want.

I believe we may have turned a corner with the VocRehab, as I am encouraged by the funding that has been provided.

If we are going to be spending the money, we need to spend it on our veterans, but it must be efficient.

I can't think of a better place to invest them.

I believe the veterans and their families deserve the best services, benefits, and care that we can provide to them.

I think providing grants to organizations that provide the connections and the services for transition is important.

I remain committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to achieve that desired result in a way that does not undermine progress and that has already been made.
