Frederica Smith Wilson is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 24th congressional district since 2010. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been an advocate for education, healthcare, and social justice issues throughout her tenure in Congress. Wilson is known for her distinctive style, often wearing colorful hats, and her outspoken nature on various political matters.
We get what we pay for. No program can be expected to meet the needs of our communities while we consistently underfund it every year.
I will point to one example of my former boss, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, who has the 5,000 Role Models of Excellence Project.
We have to fund it. We have to make it programming, and someone has to be in charge of and accountable for this work.
Now is the time for us to build on the broad support of the WIOA and strengthen these critical services for the millions of young people who urgently need them, particularly now during this pandemic.
I look forward to continuing today's discussion with all of my colleagues as we work toward providing all young people with the support, they need to lead fulfilling lives and strengthen our communities.
Today, we meet for the first of three bipartisan hearings focusing on reauthorizing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
As we build back better, Congress must invest in this industry to increase our country's rail capacity.
Clearly, too many bad actors are slipping through the cracks and this must stop.
Congress must do more to hold bad actors to account and ensure that students can make informed decisions about their post-secondary careers.
Increasingly we have seen predatory for-profit institutions mislead the public and abuse their trust by illegitimately converting to tax exempt non-profit status.
