I appreciate that, and I would like to ask for unanimous consent to enter into the record my March 26th letter with you, Chairman Carper, to President Biden, requesting those nominations of two members.

It is an important issue, and your leadership.

I think we want to improve what the agency has done on environmental justice. I for one think we need to ask those tough questions and be bold.

We look forward to continuing our work together in order to ensure that this future, our future, our children's, grandchildren's future, is realized.

This is an important hearing, and I am glad we could have it.

I presume it is a paid internship.

I think it is essential for the NRC to bring that focus on equity to their work.

The NRC remains the gold model for nuclear safety agencies.

Nuclear energy is key to reaching net zero emissions economy-wide.

I am just glad you didn't annex part of Delaware on the DelMarVa Peninsula and take it into Maryland while I was away.

I believe that safe nuclear power plays an important role in our efforts to address the greatest challenge that we face on Earth at this time, and that is the climate crisis.

From this adversity comes opportunity.

In the opinion of the chair, the ayes appear to have it.

I want to thank everybody for coming here, adjusting your schedules to be here so we could do our job, report these nominations and bills out.

The ayes have it, and the measures and nominations are favorably reported.

I think that is just one more reason why the idea of giving the District of Columbia the kind of opportunities and responsibilities that they should have in our legislation, my legislation.

I think that is abhorrent. I think that is disgraceful.

We should consider the legislation that a number of us are proposing, and that is D.C. Statehood.

Justice denied is justice delayed

Ultimately, we believe it will strengthen our national security while creating jobs and expedite the movement of goods.

I was pretty amazed at the Speaker of the House and also at one of our colleagues, Senator Sinema, to be able to stand out there in that kind of weather, to stand and deliver, in spite of the very cold, very breezy, windy conditions.
