Thanks so much. My thanks to you and to Senator McCaskill for holding this hearing and to our witnesses for being here.

Two weeks ago today, I was in Guatemala with the Vice President and Secretary Jeh Johnson.

It is just not fair. It is not right.

Senator Heitkamp, my wife seems, lately, to be interested in me working with her to update our will.

God bless you and those 77 percent of the respondents.

I think that it is a fine policy to have.

We very much look forward to working on this and getting this job done.

We all may not be happy with the results of what they may or may not do going forward.

I think that it is important to underscore that, unlike in other countries, it is not defined.

These challenges are not insurmountable. With your help, we will preserve the United States Postal Service well into the future.

The long-term viability of this organization is vital, and it is vital to the American economy.

Those are all very helpful comments.

We have been the beneficiaries, in this Committee, of a couple of folks who have served as detailees.

The Postal Service's financial position has been on our 'High-Risk List' for many years.

The time to pass legislation has passed and we are beginning now to unscrew lightbulbs from the tree.

I think that the Postmaster General outlined some of these.

I think that we have been very innovative with the mail, in terms of bridging hard copy and digital.

That is a sense of urgency that all of us on this panel need to feel--all of us.

We require the Postal Service to do something that I do not know if any other business in America does.

What we really have been doing with the Postal Service is requiring them to maintain this universal network.

It took us in the House a dozen years to see the 2006 law enacted, and we could not have done so without your leadership here in the Senate.

Senator Carper's bill would require an assessment of the USO.

I look forward to working with our colleagues in the weeks ahead to promptly enact Postal reform legislation.

We can do what needs to be done to actually fix the problem.
