Now is the time for racial justice. That's the answer we must give to our children when they ask why. Because when there is justice for George Floyd, we will truly be on our way to racial justice in America.

I support conditioning Federal aid to police based on whether or not they meet certain basic standards of decency and honorableness and in fact, are able to demonstrate they could protect the community and everybody in the community.

I am not in favor of quote-unquote 'defunding the police.'

I believe that we need to work towards a more just and equitable society that upholds the rights of all Americans, and that means addressing racial inequality and ending systemic racism.

We need to address the systemic inequalities that lead to crime and incarceration.

I believe that America is at its best when we stand up for the rights of every individual, regardless of their race, gender, or background.

I believe we are in a battle for the soul of this nation. And the simple truth is, our soul will be troubled as long as systemic racism is allowed to persist.

We need to reform our criminal justice system to make it more fair, more effective, and more just.

I think we need to have a national conversation about race and police brutality. It's time for us to come together and find common ground.

A country is crying out for leadership, leadership that can unite us, a leadership that brings us together. But I promise you this. I won't traffic and fear and division. I won't fanned the flames of hate.
