Antony Blinken
The Public Record
Antony Blinken is the 71st United States Secretary of State, having been appointed by President Joe Biden in January 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, Blinken has played a significant role in shaping U.S. foreign policy, focusing on issues such as international alliances, climate change, and global security. He previously served as Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy National Security Advisor during the Obama administration, where he was involved in key diplomatic initiatives, including the Iran nuclear deal.
The Administration has been clear about its intention to continue to provide humanitarian assistance in support of the Afghan people.

That required some coordination with them to get people through and to the airport.
I believe that there is nothing that our strategic competitors like China or Russia would have liked more than for President Biden to have reupped the war in Afghanistan.
But as an institution, after 20 years of investment by the United States, by the international community, hundreds of billions of dollars, equipment, support, training, as an institution, it collapsed in 11 days.
The reality is that the government and Afghan national security forces collapsed.
Yes, except that those conditions were so loose, particularly with regard to commitments it made.
We are now in a much better position to confront the challenges and threats that we actually face in 2021.
