We know we have an obligation to finish it so that they can see their work done, so that they can see their promises fulfilled.

This hearing is about answers. It is about answers looking forward, and it is about answers to make sure that what happened to put us here is prevented, never happens again.

I'd like to thank you for holding this hearing and for giving me the opportunity to express my concern over the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) management of the Denver Replacement hospital.

It was about 9 years ago when I was in the state legislature in Colorado that we passed one of the first telemedicine bills addressing COPD issues, cardiovascular issues.

The VA has a history of failing Colorado veterans, and this mismanagement of the construction of the Denver Replacement hospital is just the latest unfortunate example.

The purpose of this legislation is to complete the Denver Replacement hospital and hold those officials responsible for its delay accountable.

Congress has to take a little bit of the blame here. Stay out of our business.
