Let me assure the distinguished Senator from Nebraska that I concur with his views as to the importance in bringing about a smooth and timely change of command at the U.S. Strategic Command. To this end, I will take every step possible, in consultation with Senator Nunn, the ranking member on the committee, to expedite Armed Services Committee action on the nomination and seek Senate confirmation prior to the change of command scheduled in February.
