Exploiting our most vulnerable residents to boost corporate profits is not only morally wrong, it’s also illegal.

I hope it’s not because of any pressure from the head of the Republican party, Donald Trump, on any those Republican entities, because antitrust cases should be non-partisan or bipartisan.

We have antitrust laws and merger controls for a reason, because competition is the lifeblood of a healthy and vibrant economy. Competition pushes companies to produce their best work, to innovate, and to offer fair and reasonable prices.

Bonta issued a statement calling the judge's ruling "a critical first win in our case to ensure this megamerger never sees the light of day."
