I believe this military action is absolutely necessary. I believe that it should have been undertaken well before now. Like others, I am troubled by the timing of yesterday's bombing. I do not think it is coincidental that the bombs began falling on Iraq only a short hour before caucuses were convening here in Washington to discuss the impeachment vote. I understand those that believe the public, Congress, the judiciary, and now even the military may have been manipulated. But while the timing may be offensive, the action is absolutely necessary. We must support it as a Congress and as a Nation. This vote today sends a strong signal to the world and to our troops that, while we will investigate our President when he flaunts the law, we stand united behind him when he acts to protect our national security.

I want to express my support for H.R. 375 and H.R. 312 because they bring all tribes, including the Mashpee Tribe, onto an even footing with all the other tribes for having land acquired in trust under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934.
