I cannot support legislation that will make it harder for families in my district to heat their homes, put food on their table, and further financially burden the middle class.

I encourage my colleagues that we do not shift away from the primary focus, which is the education of children.

In April, the House of Representatives passed the Violence Against Women Act, which included many key provisions to protect Native American women.

My hope is that we can understand the root causes, if we can get there, of these persistent challenges.
