Nancy Pelosi: “To our outstanding candidates and tireless grassroots volunteers: you refused to surrender our country’s future, and you…”

Today, House Democrats made history on many fronts. One milestone fills me with particular joy and pride: the election of more than 100 Democratic women to the House of Representatives.

I congratulate Scott Wiener on his election to the Congress.

Above all, we have proved what is possible when women have the opportunity to lead.

The impact of women in Congress is measured in the progress we have delivered: better healthcare, greater economic opportunity, stronger protections for our rights and a brighter future for our children.
