if we sweep campaign finance reform under the rug, what legacy will we be leaving our children? Political mistrust, apathy? Or today, will we take a giant step forward in reforming a political system and leaving a system that our children can be proud of? Enough is enough, Mr. Speaker. The American people want campaign finance reform. They want it now. The American people are weary of the glaring abuses and outrageous sums of money spent on political campaigns. The American people believe big money is destroying our political systems. Campaign reform is not a Democratic or Republican problem. It is a Democratic and Republican responsibility. Mr. Speaker, it is time to come to this House floor and honestly address campaign finance reform. Let us do it and let us do it once and for all. Let us vote yes on Shays-Meehan. Let us vote no on all poison pill amendments.
