Kamala Harris is the Vice President of the United States, having taken office on January 20, 2021. She is the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. history. A member of the Democratic Party, Harris previously served as a U.S. Senator from California from 2017 to 2021, where she was known for her work on issues such as criminal justice reform, healthcare, and immigration. Before her tenure in the Senate, she served as the Attorney General of California from 2011 to 2017, focusing on consumer protection and civil rights.
I am in favor of the Second Amendment, and I believe we need to reinstate the assault weapons ban and pass universal background checks, safe storage laws, and red flag laws.
Gun violence is now the number one cause of death for children in America—not car accidents, not cancer—gun violence.
We also know that other would-be aggressors around the world are watching to see what happens in Ukraine.
Putin started this war, and he could end it tomorrow if he simply withdrew his troops from Ukraine’s sovereign territory.
These proposals are the same of those of Putin. And let us be clear: They are not proposals for peace. Instead, they are proposals for surrender, which is dangerous and unacceptable.
Putin could set his sights on Poland, the Baltic states, and other NATO Allies.
Each one of these principles is at stake in Ukraine, and that is why Ukraine’s fight matters to the people of America.
The Ukrainian people are bravely defending their homes and their homeland, their freedom, and their democracy against a brutal dictator.
I have been proud to stand with Ukraine. I will continue to stand with Ukraine. And I will work to ensure Ukraine prevails in this war.
