In your opening statement you said that the Coast Guard provides Department of Defense services.
We should ask that subcommittee to ask the U.S. Navy, are there any military requirements for the U.S. Navy in the Arctic.
The arguments made by the National Science Foundation are important and perhaps provide us with the final answer.
The support necessary to build these icebreakers and any other thing really will come from the American economy or American manufacturers.
Within the next 6 months, this committee and Congress are going to have to make some final decisions about the icebreakers.
