Thankfully, later today, we will have a chance to take a major step in improving the economic outlook for families across America. The HIRE Act will provide over $77 billion in investments in transportation projects. It will also allow for a continuation of minority-owned business contracting requirements for these projects. Incentives for hiring and retaining new employees will be implemented. Additionally, a direct payment option for certain tax credit bond programs will increase school construction and renewable energy projects. The time for partisan talking points has passed. The American people demand better and we will have a chance to deliver that relief later today. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass the HIRE Act and put Americans back to work.
