I would certainly want to move forward with legislation, if it is needed, that would guarantee the family's discretion at the highest level, as the highest priority.

H.R. 2996 would extend this period to December 2018, which would allow these veterans to file for a set of conditions that may arise years after their service.

I think H.R. 2996 reinforces Congress' intent that all veterans who served in these combat areas... should be entitled to these presumptions as we await further scientific study on their illnesses.

that means that what you are suggesting is that if those benefits are applied to a family that is caring for a veteran, that they should not be deducted from that veteran's sort of allocation.

I wholeheartedly support the mission of this bill, and of our county veterans service officers who serve my constituents back home.

I cannot imagine disposing of remains in any way that would be disrespectful.

One of the things that's clear to me is the value of Vet Centers.

The Department of Veteran's Affairs is the second largest department in Washington and the work of the Veterans Committee is very important.

What I want to take away from this Committee hearing is what the Vet Centers need to be there for the veterans.

The VA tells me that they can't advertise. But statutes I've seen say they can advertise.

I look forward to hearing more about H.R. 4168, introduced by Congressman Guinta, which would direct the ABMC to maintain Clark Veterans Cemetery in the Philippines.
