I might mention to the gentleman that his district and mine have this identical problem, for our territories involves open spaces where people have to travel many, many miles for this kind of service. As the gentleman is aware, the VA's community-based outpatient clinics were established expressly to address this problem and have been a great success. Moreover, the decision to establish outpatient clinics are made not in Washington, but at the VISN level with local input to address regional and local veterans needs. That being said, I would be happy to work with the gentleman in communicating his very real concerns to the VA.
