I rise in support of the FY07 Department of Defense Appropriations conference report. This is the first of 11 individual conference reports I hope to bring to the House floor for consideration this year. The conference report funds the DoD at $377.6 billion plus a bridge fund of $70 billion for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, the DoD conference report contains a clean continuing resolution that funds government operations at the lower rate of House-passed, Senate-passed, or last year's funding level through November 17th. The underlying bill in this conference report--the DoD Appropriations bill--is the most important of our annual appropriation bills for it funds our national security. I would like to praise Chairman Young and ranking member Murtha for their fine bipartisan work.
