The legislation, in fact, directs EPA to ensure that quality researchers participate in broadly based, comprehensive, competitive, and peer-reviewed research programs. Only when we bring together a diverse community of the best scientific minds on this matter, both inside and outside of government, can we feel assured that science is being used to lay a credible foundation for policy.
