“I think the point I am really trying to make here is to suggest to the House that we are all on the same side of this. The fact is my colleague knows and I know before we get through this process of the conference that AmeriCorps is going to have its funding restored, we know that. What has really happened though as a part of the full committee discussion and here, is suddenly there is a different attention being paid to the Persian Gulf syndrome, which the gentleman's district should be very pleased with as well. So at the end of the process we will raise that to a much higher level of attention; the gentleman's district will like that. But AmeriCorps will be funded at the other end, as my colleagues know. Frankly it is important that the public know that we are all on the same side really in this discussion. And as my colleagues know, we have a tendency to fill all the time that is available regardless of whether we agree or disagree.”
