let me make clear tht I did not say that the gentleman's amendment was a 10 percent cut in the NSF Budget. I said that his amendment was a 10% cut in the amount of money that would otherwise go to this fine agency. His amendment is $270 million below what the committee recommends, or $305 million below what the administration requested. It is actually a reduction in the amount of growth that has been projected, as we both understand.
