“Our military includes American women who have a constitutional right to reproductive health care. So let us give them access. Let us support them while they are deployed abroad. If there were easy answers, easy ways for them to return to the United States to have these procedures, that might be fine, but that is not the case. If they are in Pakistan or other far-off places where access to quality health care may be difficult, they will not be able to return to the United States and their constitutional rights will be abridged. The point I made earlier, consistent with the thrust of this amendment, is that we need to respect women and men in our military. We need to pass the Sanchez amendment.”
