All of the witnesses present testified that their companies believe MHPI leases and housing are subject to state and local laws related to housing and leases.

Jackie Speier is a former U.S. Representative from California, serving in the House of Representatives from January 3, 2008, until January 15, 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, she represented California's 14th congressional district. Speier is known for her advocacy on issues such as women's rights, healthcare, and gun control. She gained national attention for her work on the Sexual Assault Survivors' Bill of Rights and her efforts to address military sexual assault. Speier's political career began in the California State Assembly, where she served from 2002 to 2006 before moving to the U.S. Congress.
But it is, in fact, still an incredible lifeline for Americans across this country who are holding on.
These are people that, frankly, probably don't belong in Congress, because they are there to inflame an outrage.
All we're trying to do is give a hand up to those Americans who are the working stiffs who are just trying to get back into the game.
I think this is so ripe for our continuing review this year, Madam Chair, that we do that.
I would agree with you. In fact, I think many of the Inspector Generals associated with the military services do not have the skills at all to provide that function.
I have seared in my memory two images in particular: a young girl, maybe four years old, in a cell at Border Patrol sobbing because she had been separated from her mother...
So, it was a truly callous act within the Department of Justice in not stepping in and providing some kind of mitigation.
