“For me, as a Member of Congress, one of my priorities is to work for the survival and the security of the State of Israel, and I say that and I do that with no embarrassment because I very much believe that that position is a position that is strongly in the interests of the American people, and I think that as we look at the context of this conflict, some of the points illustrated by the gentleman from Florida with his maps remind us of several critical points. The first point is that every single time that the people of Israel have been presented with an option which involves compromise on their part and the hope and promise of peace, they have chosen that option rather than pushing for maximalist demands and a continuation of conflict.”
