Gavin Christopher Newsom is an American politician and businessman currently serving as the 40th governor of California, a position he has held since January 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Newsom previously served as the mayor of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011 and as the lieutenant governor of California from 2011 to 2019. His tenure as governor has been marked by significant policy initiatives, including efforts to address climate change, housing affordability, and healthcare reform.

I want these teachers to teach, and if they feel like the health or safety of the kid [is at risk], they have a responsibility to communicate that, [and] they still can.

And I saw that — the last couple years, boy did I [see] how you guys were able to weaponize that issue at another level.
Both things I can hold in my hand, how do we address this issues with the kind of decency that's, you know, inherent with you but not always expressed on the issue, while at the same time, deal with the unfairness?
California is home to more than 500,000 fast-food workers who—for decades—have been fighting for higher wages and better working conditions.
