Eric Michael Swalwell is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 15th congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Swalwell has focused on issues such as gun control, healthcare, and technology policy during his time in office. He gained national attention for his role in the impeachment proceedings against former President Donald Trump and has been an advocate for progressive reforms within the Democratic Party.
Would you agree that because we have a broken immigration system, because there is great uncertainty about our immigration system, that in this chaos, this crisis with unaccompanied minor children has occurred?
What can we do as a body to give you the resources you need to make sure that you meet that 72-hour requirement so that children are not staying there beyond that period?
Thank you Chairman Lummis for holding this hearing, and I also want to thank this excellent panel of witnesses for their testimony and for being here today.
However, as amazing as these developments may be and as much as we would like to continue to push the frontiers of science, we are also forced to keep in mind our current fiscally constrained environment.
I am especially pleased to see northern California so well represented at the panel.

We are here today to discuss the recently released P5 report, which lays out a vision for particle physics in the United States over the next decade.
And also if we can't proceed with DESI, it would send a negative message to our many collaborators from 10 countries...
Mr. Swalwell. And, Dr. Roe, speaking of Europe or Asia, if DESI is funded and moves forward as a project...
I commend you for rising to this challenge so that Members of Congress, without particle physics degrees, don't have to make these decisions without your guidance.
I believe the end result is a very strong product, and I want to thank Dr. Ritz for his leadership of the P5, as well as the entire P5 team for their efforts.

It is imperative for passenger safety and aviation security that we close this loophole to help ensure the safety of the traveling public.
If there are ways that Congress can get involved in encouraging responsible behavior that increases the safety of the global flying public, we hope that you will let us know.
I think President Obama certainly in the Beyond the Border action plan with Prime Minister Harper and with Canada recognizes perimeter security as a critical issue.

For me, aviation security is so important because if we do not have public confidence in aviation security, the economy we know will greatly, greatly suffer.
