The leaders of Veolia have said that their hearts and prayers are with the victims. However, their pocketbooks so far have not been.

I don't think it does anybody any good, and it certainly does a disservice to Black Americans and Hispanic Americans, to ignore the consequences of our immigration policy, which clearly hurts those Black workers and Hispanic workers.

The official unemployment rate for native-born Americans without a high school degree is well over 20 percent, and their underemployment rate exceeds 32 percent.
