I come in support of the Senate bill that will come to the floor on airline security. I formerly represented Los Angeles Airport, LAX. As I go in there to come back to Washington, D.C., there is not a time that the staff at whatever airline does not approach me to secure the planes that they have to fly and serve on. It is an essential move that we have to make now. People do not want to fly because they think it is unsafe. We have to have a force checking everyone, checking bags. We have to have them uniformed. We have to renew the spirit of flying in this country. We have to save the industry. We have to encourage the American people that they can feel safe on their airlines. We must pass the bipartisan bill now. We must secure the safety of our planes, our passengers, our airports. I would encourage everyone to vote ``aye'' on the compromise bill.
