How do you run a tough campaign that draws distinctions and takes on somebody who's really competing hard against you without coming across as coming too edgy, too unlikable, too b-word, to be electable.

Absolutely. I think he brings a lot to the ticket. He's an experienced politician. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes on the trail. He's got a lot of foreign policy experience, I think, which is -- which is important to Senator Obama.
I think that's an important quality in a vice president. Again, it speaks to the nominee's judgment.
I think, at the end of the day, the president is going to do what Bill suggested, which is look these members in the eye and ask them, and say, look, we have been talking about this for generations. It's time to get it done.
