“let me point out that I am supporting this rule. I know my colleagues will find excuses to vote against it, but it is the beginning of the dialogue. It is not an end-all. You know it is not going to be the end-all. But we need to have a dialogue about the fact that the energy issue has not gotten its fair share of time, and it has not gotten its fair share of attention. My colleagues may want to say it has not gotten enough in the House of Representatives; but let us face it, it has not been a priority at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue either. I think both sides can say there is more we need to do, and we need to be more comprehensive. I ask my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, you have to admit that this week, when the administration announces that it is going to pull the trade embargo off of Iran and then announce they are going to do it for caviar and Persian rugs, but not for oil, you have got to say, now, wait a minute. No matter whether Democrat or Republican, you have to say, what are the priorities of our trade negotiators, what are the priorities of our foreign policy, when we say we are going to announce to the American people, Don't worry, the Persian rugs and the caviar is on its way, but the oil is going to continue to be under injunction, under restriction.”
