I think we need to avoid a belief that what we do in Washington controls the whole world and everything is all about us.

One thing I want to point out is that perhaps the most important thing America does for democracy around the world is to serve as a model for democracy.
We need to get Europe on our side to impose sanctions, whether or not they view those as sanctions because they don't like the Iran deal.
How do we get a mutual defense agreement with Japan instead of a one-sided one where we have to defend them, and they don't do anything for us, except help defend themselves?

Well, we were attacked on 9/11. How many Japanese soldiers were put in harm's way to defend the United States after that attack?
We are not going to be making it hard for Kim to breathe. We are going to be letting our foot off his neck.
I would hope that we would have a hearing before the agreement is sent to Congress, because that is when the hearing can enlighten the administration as to what ought to be in that agreement.
The failure of the Senate to take up that bill is further proof of the desirability of a unicameral legislature.
