Do you think they should make their documents public, this working group, the Pharmaceuticals in the Environment Working Group?
I agree with you, Dr. Hirsch, to be prudent is key here. And to be prudent is to protect our children and our pregnant women and to do the work that is necessary.
EPA now says it is not prepared to require drinking water systems to monitor for pharmaceuticals.
I think it speaks for itself, with open checkbook for Iraq, open checkbook for them, but we can't find a few dollars here to protect the public from what could be a threat to pregnant women and children.
Your job is to protect human health at the beach, at the drinking water tap. It is not one or the other.
What reason would there be to not make those documents available to Senator Lautenberg, Senator Vitter and myself, Senator Klobuchar?
Let's work together with this Committee. We are ready, willing and able to work with you on that.
Do you think our families have a right to know what is in their drinking water?
Get together. Get together. After this AP story scared everybody, including you, you said you are concerned...
EPA has failed to require the needed testing to determine the effects of these chemicals at low levels.
The House passed it 1 year ago, and we passed it in the committee in June 2007. This is not something that--this has been around. We have been asking Senator Reid. He wanted to bring it up, but it is getting caught up in other matters. It…
Then why is it that your budget slashed funding for EPA endocrine-disruptive chemical testing program that Dr. Hirsch said is so important?
I believe the public is really smart. And I believe moms and dads really understand what it means to drink safe water and water that makes them sick.
I am very pleased the majority leader has called for a motion to proceed to H.R. 1195, the SAFETEA-LU Technical Corrections Act of 2008. On August 10, 2005, President Bush signed into law the SAFETEA-LU Act, which authorized our Nation's…
I want to assure colleagues that on this particular piece of legislation, we have worked closely together, as have Senators Dodd and Shelby over at Banking, as have Senators Inouye and Stevens. This is one of those moments which doesn't…
This is the group who sent the letter. I want to say who it is, who signed this letter: No. 1, the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials; that is departments of transportation in all 50 States--red States, blue…
I thank Senator Dodd so much for his great leadership on this issue. The reason I very much wanted to speak this morning is because California is on the front lines of this crisis. We have about 25 percent of all the foreclosures in our…
That's what Senator Barbara Boxer accused of White House of, for delaying a decision on whether polar bears should be protected under the Endangered Species Act.
the amendment I agree with is the Vitter amendment which says that the rules surrounding FACE, which is the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, would apply to recruiting stations because we do not want anyone hurt by demonstrators…
Mr. President and my colleagues, this is a moment we could be together because we had some outrageous statements coming out of the Berkeley City Council. They rescinded. They apologized. And what the Senator wants to do is take it out on…
I did not want to have to offer another amendment here tonight. The only reason I am doing that is because the amendment that will be offered in a moment by Senator Allard says that the SCHIP program, our kids health program, should cover…
I wish to inform all colleagues on both sides of the aisle that you voted for $50 million to enhance the enforcement of child protective laws. If Senator Ensign's bill becomes a law--which it is not the law; it has not passed this Senate…
