I would like to address my remarks to H.R. 4984, D.C. Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium Campus Revitalization Act.

The land could help address many of the city's needs, including increasing the stock of available, affordable housing.

This is, Mr. Chairman, the critical part of this legislation and any further plans for the site.

The stadium is now past its prime and slated to be torn down.

Can you discuss how a lease with these expanded areas can remain consistent with what the National Park Service's long-term plan for Anacostia Park is?

I believe achieving the right balance here is key.

Advancing environmental justice, strengthening tribal and community engagement, and ensuring a fair return for taxpayers is imperative.

My point being, I mean, we are talking about the sovereignty part of it. But the consultation is any project that impacts, and I think that the answer is no.

It is time to modernize it, reform it, bring it up to date, and put in the guarantees and safeguards that is going to make the public believe that truly they are part of the decision-making.

My point being while there are critical minerals in this location, how do you balance and weigh water supplies, endangered species, cultural heritage, tribal consultation, and executing our trust responsibility to tribes?

The fact we have none does open that conversation on many levels, from cleanup of abandoned mines to reclamation.
