Can you tell me of any other governmental entity that does that, where the government acts as the loan guarantee for the development?

Well, then your theory is that the government is guaranteeing the developer that they are going to be able to pay for their development?

Well, I am sorry to disagree with you because taxpayer dollars are involved here.

If that is retained, I mean that is half-time student/half-time paid, do you think that could actually harm veterans, rather than helping them?

And you would think that that requires a legislative solution to address those problems?

Do you have any concerns that as we continue to legislate in this area that lenders will be less likely to want to cooperate and provide loans for our veterans?

We have a number of bills before us today which extend or refine important veterans programs, including those for homeless veterans reintegration, and veterans educational assistance, among other issues.

So what we find most important, and I mentioned this in my testimony, is to make sure that we match that individual, who is returning from their service and wants to stay at home and be with their family, and perhaps even hold down a job…

Do most of your students, can that cover their costs or do they also have to take out student loans?

Remedial training is absolutely critical.

If they can't appropriately navigate financial aid registrar's office, then on top of that, finding central part of contact to navigate the GI Bill and getting your benefits.

In your opinion, what are the top three reasons that veterans do not complete their degrees?

I represent a large rural district in Arizona and a lot of the veterans go to a private practice physician or a community health center or maybe a regional hospital that is not part of the VA system.

Here is my concern. You said that where there is mandatory reporting, it is rarely enforced.

My other concern is the number of reports the VA has to make to Congress.

So that is going to require an MOU with all of these different agencies?

In your written testimony, you say there is a possibility that in reporting infectious diseases that personal information could be released.

It is my hope through the oversight process not only to point out weaknesses in areas needing attention, but also to back the VA up in its mission to care for veterans.

As the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, it is our primary duty to provide oversight of all VA programs and facilities to ensure they are run effectively, efficiently, and lawfully.

This lack of transparency looks like an attempt to evade legislative oversight and makes me wonder whether there is more to the story than what VA has chosen to reveal.

Veterans need to know that when they ask VA for the services and benefits they have earned, the information they submit in order to get those benefits will not be compromised under any circumstances.

Are you familiar with or have you heard the Inspector General talk about the fact there has been excessive turnover in key leadership positions and there's a lack of human resources in the IT departments?

But the medical laptops will not be encrypted?
