You guys are pushing policies that are literally going to derive--deprive people of their rights to choose whether they want to cook their food on a gas range top or drive a vehicle of their choice.

We find ourselves in another hearing again in which our colleagues in the Biden administration are pushing dangerous socialist propaganda policies over people.

It will be 25 years minimum before we can catch up with China. That is how far ahead of us they are in battery production.

But that is money--that work was funded with U.S. taxpayer dollars.

But you can't even get a mine permitted in the next decade under the--under current conditions.

I think that is a problem.

I can only imagine what would happen to people with cardiovascular issues, respiratory issues, that don't have power at all.

We are not talking about necessarily putting up ballistic-proof fencing or things like that.

I think I am not going to buy that, Mr. Chairman, that you can't protect them.

But it is also reported that there was an intelligence security memo detailing at least 15 instances over the course of less than a year showing suspected extremists openly threatening and calling for acts of sabotage against the energy…

We are making ourselves more vulnerable to an adversarial nation like China by pursuing these things.

I think our permitting, our regulatory regime has done enormous damage to our economy and to our ability to catch up with China.

The components that we need for solar panels and for turbines, we will be relying on China for that.

The existential threat to the United States and to the world really is not climate change. It is China.

I think my earlier point is, these hearings become partisan crap shows. I hate to say that.

I really do not believe in gun violence. I think my colleague, Mr. Higgins from Louisiana, addressed that very intelligently and forthrightly that there is no such thing as gun violence, it is only human violence.

I just want to point out that the median household income in the District of Columbia, 74 percent higher than it is in Alabama, Kentucky.

Short of banning all firearms in every state and Mexico and Canada, can you explain to me how passing another law will reduce gun violence?

Well, Mr. Chairman, I appreciate you holding this hearing and trying to address a very serious issue.

In 1996 the Clinton administration repealed section 936 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, which provided tax incentives for drug manufacturers.

China's objective is not to save the planet from climate change. China's objective is to rule the planet as the world's sole superpower.

And we have this artificial target of trying to achieve net zero by 2050, which under no engineering scenario, no technologies scenario is achievable.

I do not think I am willing to give up my pickup or many of my friends who drive pickup trucks are willing to do that either.
