I have long advocated moving forward to promote competition in the electric power industry. Competition certainly benefits consumers, increases supply, helps reduce the cost of power. I have long promoted the three guiding principles for good electric legislation: To deregulate where we can, streamline where we can, and not interfere with the States protecting retail customers. It would be appropriate to basically underline what we have been able to accomplish.
