It’s a hamster wheel with many young people constantly being branded a failure and having to resit.

We want young people to have that deeper understanding in literacy and numeracy but across a range of subjects.

The idea that academic and technical education are rivals competing for status belongs in the past.

That’s not a coincidence — it’s a consequence. It’s his legacy.

Getting all those young people — and the generations to come — back on the road to success is my priority.

The one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t suit all children. For some it’s become a straitjacket. A straitjacket that has left too many being branded a failure – again and again – instead of being able to realise their potential.

They have to take some responsibility for creating … a system that has left over a million young people now not in education, training or employment. The current approach has left too many behind.

What I’m not going to oversee is some kind of lower ambition for some kids. It’s about ambition for everybody.

I’m not here to worry about private schools. I’m here to worry about state schools.

Too many young people face unnecessary barriers to apprenticeships, college places and training.

And, you know, I want to make sure that we look at this so that it’s fair for students.

This Government is determined to help thousands more young people gain the skills, experience and confidence they need to build successful careers.

I think it’s not just about the threshold of when people start to pay it back, but also the interest rate, which is … RPI plus 3%, which is, you know, I think I’ve called it in the past egregious.
