Andy Burnham talks a great talk about reindustrialisation. His diagnosis and his analysis of 40 years of neoliberal politics is bang on the money. Here is his opportunity not just to talk the talk, but to walk the walk.

Scottish Labour must have a coherent answer to the question of what is the democratic route to another indyref.

If it’s another No result, then there should be an agreed timescale before there could be another one – for example, 25 years.

Winning five elections in a row is a pretty obvious statement and a second referendum should come with the defined terms.

Do we not see that competing just for a small Unionist vote is swimming in crowded waters and will never lead to us being in government?

If we ever want a Scottish Labour government in Holyrood again, then we must appeal to what was once a large chunk of our core vote that left us for the SNP.

And AI data centres would require incredible amounts of water.

Parts of the UK have declared drought status yet there is a political push for nuclear energy requiring huge amounts of water to operate.

We are suffering from climate crisis/extreme weather.

Things absolutely must change, we cannot carry on with the failed policies and politics that have seen us reduced to our lowest total of MSPs ever.

Our Scottish Labour members deserve better than that. They deserve, and must have, the opportunity to engage in a robust debate of ideas and beliefs and then make the decision on the future direction of our party.

MPs and MSPs being placed under pressure to block any candidate would be an affront to the values of the Scottish Labour Party, and to wider democracy.

You cannot cut departmental budgets and lift people out of poverty and improve people’s lives.

Fund welfare and methods of looking after people and improving their lives and the infrastructure of the country, instead of billions that will go to weapons manufacturers

Those in charge of Scottish Labour need to wake up to the fact that the Scottish people don’t want what we are offering.
