I will expend political capital on bringing forward a plan to fix social care, and I’m not going to waste time because every time that we waste another year, thousands and thousands more people don’t get the care that they need.
The way I look at it, it’s his achievement as well. A whole family achievement although he doesn’t know it.
Britain needs to show the world that we can regain our stability once again.
It is resolute. It will be there for him and I will be there for him personally too.
I’ve got personal experience of the system at the moment. My dad has Alzheimer’s, and you see what the staff have to put up with. It’s not their fault, the system’s broken. You can’t leave social care like this.
I want to consolidate the progress made on the existing UK-EU negotiations and make further progress quickly, including by strengthening our co-operation on illegal migration, economic security and the broader resilience of our societies…
All of this will be looked at though at the Budget, and obviously it's difficult given the financial circumstances in which we find ourselves.
Certainly, I heard issues related to the personal allowance more than anything on doorsteps in Makerfield.
It requires my generation of politicians to raise our game and rise to the new challenge.
I am acutely conscious that I am the sixth person in the last 10 years to walk up this street, the seventh prime minister since 2016, making this a moment for reflection and new resolution.
Let us make this the moment when Britain starts to believe again, the moment we bring back hope.

But I can do something to give people some breathing space now, some help with the cost of living, and I will set out some of those measures starting tomorrow, including how we pay for them.
