So I say tonight to my party and to my countrymen: We shall stand there with honor.

One of my countrymen has said that although he never really expects to see Heaven, it is all right--because he has seen Denmark.

Not all of us can help directly to win the fight for freedom in Vietnam, but every one of us can do his share to support our men who are out there in Vietnam fighting for us.

I believe that those who make that case are no less patriotic and no less sincere than those who believe that we cannot shorten the length of our reach into the world.

You are serving your country well, and with distinction.

We need your help--and I am glad that you have responded out of a sense of duty to both your country and to humanity.

We must always be prepared and have the arms and the strength to defend America.

If you will do what is best for America, you will do what is best for you.

Now is the time for all good Americans to come to the aid of their country, and unite behind their country.

I would counsel my fellow Americans today in this friendly, happy crowd, in this beautiful city of Belleville, where Americans love their country and they are out here to demonstrate it--I would say to you that we cannot and we must not use this strength to try to compel, to try to frighten others into following our every command.

You are lucky enough and you are fortunate enough and you are blessed enough today to live in the most powerful nation in all the world.

I am proud of America, and I am proud of Oklahoma, and I am proud of you.

We must make it dear, to all abroad and to all at home, that America will never permit itself to be divided.

So today I call upon you to answer your Nation's challenge, to answer it by being leaders for a united America, united and indivisible under God.

I think our task is to maintain that sense of vitality and vigor which helped build this country.

You come at a most appropriate moment and I am very proud to welcome you here on behalf of my countrymen.

This is still the greatest nation in the world in which a child can be born and raised.

That's why I am proud to be an American.
