I also urge Federal, State and local officials, as well as religious, civic, patriotic, educational, and other organizations, to arrange for appropriate ceremonies on Citizenship Day, in schools and churches and other appropriate places, to the end that all of us may gain a deeper appreciation of our rights and responsibilities as citizens of the United States.

And I know that in this institution just as in all others, we have our devoted educators trying to get over to all of their students that thought: let us strive to understand--understand each other, and our Nation to understand others, and help them to an understanding of ourselves.

We will carry on the fight for Federal aid to education, to help the States meet the crisis confronting our schools.

I also invite the medical profession, the press, the radio, the motion-picture industry, and all organizations and individuals interested in a national program for the control of cancer by education and other cooperative means to unite during the month of April in a concerted effort to impress upon the people of the Nation the vital importance to their health and to the welfare of the Nation of a program for the control of cancer and the necessity for their cooperation in such a program.

And I think that if the farmer's wife all the way through the country had it explained to her, about the cost of living to her, I think the farmer's wife would appreciate it, and understand it, and go along with the effort to stabilize the cost of living.

THE CAREER of President John Grier Hibben as a life-long leader in education merits the praise of the country and will continue to inspire the emulation of those to whom he has passed on the lamp of learning.

No institution doing the work this Seminary is doing should be allowed to fail, particularly in times like these.

We can not afford to lose any ground in education

Insurance not only protects the home and family and their social and spiritual values, but helps to meet current and future needs of expanding industry, commerce and education.

The part played by the press in this educational effort merits grateful recognition.

His warmhearted human sympathy for all mankind resulted in munificent gifts for the advancement of public health, education, housing, and the wide reach of social amelioration.

The work of these teachers represents a social service and practical patriotism of high order.

Education is not only the foundation of personal efficiency but is the solvent of many of the problems which confront us as a nation.

This Charter also emphasizes the importance of training for parents, 'to fit them to deal wisely with the problems of parenthood.'

I will be obliged, however, if you will express my cordial greetings to those gathered for this happy occasion and my profound appreciation of the tremendous service which Berea College, both by its own work and by its example, has done in widening the service of education and in development of the character of the previous youth of our country.

The service of the College has been memorable and I speak the heart of the Nation in wishing for it many years of ever increasing usefulness.

He has given to America great contributions in the whole field of education and science.

I should like to share in person in paying honor to such a useful and distinguished citizen, whose work as scientific researcher, teacher, and author has done so much to forward the attack upon the problem of cancer in particular and of disease in general.
