President Nixon took the opportunity to congratulate Prime Minister Bhutto on the progress Pakistan has made over the past twenty months.

Pakistan and the people of Pakistan have always been very close to my heart.

I can only say that it is a friendship that will continue in the years ahead.

A structure of peace has to be built in such a way that all those who might be tempted to destroy it will instead have a stake in preserving it.

We have ended nearly a quarter century of mutual isolation between the United States and the People's Republic of China.

Let me say this: I want all of you to know, I have sat for long days, day on day, in negotiations at the highest level in Peking and Moscow.

Always in the past you have answered 'Peace with honor.'

On September 25, Secretary of State Rogers also expressed to the United Nations the profound concern of the American people over the growing menace of international terrorism.

For this reason I particularly welcome the Community's declared intent to maintain a constructive, forthcoming dialogue with us

It is important that the Russian people and the American people not be enemies.

It is important that the Chinese people--and that is one-fourth of all the people in this world--not be enemies of the United States.

I am determined that we must build a world order in which differences between governments do not make it impossible for people to be friends.

This is not an agreement which guarantees that there will be no war.

At the same time problems were discussed frankly and openly as between true friends in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.

We welcome you as the head of state of a great nation, our great and friendly neighbor to the South.

The other thing that I would say is that we are grateful for the fact that all of our party has been received so hospitably and that His Majesty has made available this beautiful summer palace, as it is called, I understand, for our use…

I bring greetings of friendship from all of the American people to all of the Polish people.

So because His Imperial Majesty and Her Majesty have been so kind to say 'Mi casa es su casa,' we have had a memorable 24 hours here.
