Change is a constant force in our lives, and we must adapt to it with resilience and hope.

More and more Americans are realizing the great change that has taken place since August of 1974.

But we need people who understand how to bring it about.

We have changed the world.

The fact that it is not the same does not mean that it is still not very necessary, and perhaps even more important than it was.

We do live in a changing world.

The giant is awakened.

The changes, Mr. Chancellor, are primarily not physical.

Our issues are new. Our alignments are new. Our styles are new. Our slogans are new.

Do we believe that these things can come about peacefully?

Now we know that it is not enough.

You are on the rim of a new era.

And we can do it in our lifetime.

I haven't noticed any change in attitude.

I want each of you to walk out in the world determined--determined to move it, to contribute to it, and to shape it-to be leaders and not followers.

Our dizzying ability to discard the old and to create the new...all these and more are the challenges that surround you.

The time for action has come.

I came here tonight to tell you that in the time allotted me, with whatever energy and ability I have, I do not intend for history to repeat itself.
